Celtic Flames present their spectacular show of music, song and dance in The Town Hall, Westport on Saturday, August 12 at 8pm. Celtic Flames is an exciting 24 piece mixed music group, based in Galway and ranging in ages from six to 60, who play and perform a quality eclectic mix of traditional Irish music, song and dance fused with a more contemporary idiom. Formed originally as a ten piece group in 2011, it has grown to include the top young talent to emerge from the west of Ireland in recent years and their mission is to entertain.

The Board of Údarás na Gaeltachta has recently given its approval to a new Údarás consultation and support scheme ‘Bí Réidh’ to assist in encouraging Gaeltacht companies to prepare for Brexit and to develop an action plan in this regard. A fund of €100,000 has been made available for this scheme which will be based on self-assessment of their exposure to Brexit, and a Consultancy Grant Scheme, under the De Minimis rule, with maximum of €5,000 each being allowed.

Now in its 22nd year, Bealtaine continues to be embraced by the Mayo community with many arts and cultural events organised by local libraries, arts centres, care settings, galleries, active retirement groups, and community groups across the county. This year’s theme, All together now, will stage major events in Mayo.

A total of €3,500 in funding has been allocated to the Uisneach Bealtaine festival in Westmeath as part of the 2017 Regional Festivals & Participative Events Programme.

The Bealtaine Festival takes place across the country during the month of May.
